The body is in nice shape, the only ding or dent to be found is at the front of the driver rocker, likely due to improper jack use. It’s tough to get out of this 951 and jump into my base 944 without feeling a bit underwhelmed. I really don’t think there’s ever been anyone in the back seat of the car, although the back seats don’t look terribly uncomfortable (aside from a slight lack of leg room). Even the dealer installed 4 spoke leather steering wheel shows no signs of wear marks or “bald spots” from common hand placement. Evolve motors is pleased to present this 1988 porsche 944 turbo! The performance difference between a naturally aspirated 944 and the turbo is staggering. As someone who has daily-driven a base-model 944 for the last six years, this car has changed the way i look at my own car. It’s hard to get out of this 951 and jump into my 944 without feeling a bit underwhelmed. This particular 951 was originally slate grey but has since been resprayed in platinum silver. Paint shows well with the exception of some cracking on the front bumper and over the driver rear wheel well. Please see the photos, all imperfections are documented extensively. Interior is decent; there’s a tear in the driver’s seat bottom as well as some dash-cracking. While there’s a couple cosmetic flaws inside, this car is in great mechanical order. Power sunroof works and doesn't leak, rear hatch struts are functional, and all carpeting shows well with no sun-bleaching. The underbody is corrosion free, with nothing more than a bit of surface rust. The car starts right up, idles cool, pulls hard, brakes totally straight and consistently, and doesn’t smoke or make any concerning noises. Overall, this car is a great driver and “10 footer”. 944 turbos are amazingly well-balanced and absolutely impossible to beat as a "driver's car" for under $10,000. This car has a clean carfax and i have receipts in-hand for all of the following maintenance items:january 1994 at 75k – timing belts, auxiliary water pump, engine front seal kit, cam seal. May 1994 – new battery, sunroof gear, oil pressure line, oil return line, oil cooler repaired. February 1995 – water pump, relay switches. July 1996 at 117k – timing belt, balance shaft belt, timing tensioner, balance tensioner, auxiliary roller, alternator belt, a/c belt, power steering belt, water pump belt, fresh fluids, air filter, spark plugs, fuel filter, gear lube, oxygen sensor, grease seals. April 1998 – fluids flushed and replaced, fan switch replaced. July 1998 – new batteryapril 2000 – new wipers and air filterjune 2000 – a/c rechargedaugust 2000 – painted – base coat/clear coat – brite platinum silver, ppg#4820. Replaced spark plugs, installed lindsey racing boost enhancer. August 2000 at 153k – water pump, timing belt, thermostat, starter, and “all belts and hoses” replaced at maplewood imports, minnesota. $1849. May 2001 at 157k – re-tension cam and balance belts, replace rear brake rotors, replace parking brake shoe, replace both sunroof gears, replace wiring to sunroof and mirror switches, replace fuel filter. Replaced at auto edge, minnesota. $888. 38. May 2002 at 162k – window tint installed at ziebart, minnesota. $306. 67. April 2006 at 170k – replace ac receiver and drier, converted to r134a. Replace coolant hoses, fill and bleed coolant system. Replace spark plugs, install coil wire, replace vacuum t fitting at front of intake manifold. $602. 38. May 2002 at 162k – new boxster/996 wheels installed, with bridgestone potenza re730s. $2,085. June 2004 at 170k – distributor cap, thermo hood mat, jacob’s porsche wires. $258. 43. This is a well-optioned first-year example. As someone who daily drives a 944 and is an active cars & coffee goer, i see a ton of 944s. I can say with absolute honesty that this is the cleanest, most original example i’ve ever come across. It’s bone stock, down to the most minute detail. Original paint presents extremely well, with only very, very minor imperfections. Imperfections include a small scuff at the passenger side lowest point of the front bumper, in addition to a couple little dots in the paint above the front passenger wheel (see photos). The rest of the car is free of any rock chipping or blemishes, even on the lower rockers, side mirrors, and around the fog lights. There are no signs of clear coat aging to be found anywhere. All rubber trim is crack-free, and all glass is clear and free of chips. The car is show-ready as it sits. The interior:black leather interior is “time capsule” quality. Even the driver’s seat is free of any creases. Driver’s seat is powered and heated, as optioned from the factory. Dash is like-new, as are the carpets, door panels, and rear seats. Powered sunroof functions as it should, as does the blaupunkt “reno” radio. Powered rear hatch unlock works, as do the front and rear hatch struts. Heat heats and r12 a/c blows cold. Leather-wrapped steering wheel is free of any fraying. Under the hood:the 944s differed from the 944 in that it featured a dual-overhead-cam 16-valve, 187hp version of the 2. 5l engine, featuring a self-adjusting timing belt tensioner, in addition to a redesigned camshaft drive, a magnesium intake tract, magnesium valve cover, larger capacity oil sump, and revised exhaust system. Wheel bearings were strengthened and the brakes were improved through the use of the brake circuit pressure regulator from the 951. The 944s also featured an improved bosch digital motronic 2 computer/dme for improved fuel performance for the higher 10. 9:1 compression ratio cylinder head. Like the 951, the 944s received progressive springs for improved handling, larger front and rear anti-roll bars, as well as a revised transmission and gearing. This particular car feels every bit as good as one would expect from such a clean, low mileage example. There are no leaks or concerning noises or tendencies whatsoever; wouldn’t hesitate to drive it anywhere. Everything feels nice and tight; this is definitely a very confidence-inspiring driver. Under the car:the underbody is bone dry. No hints of surface rust or signs of old fluid strewn around the underbody, nice and clean. Underbody bolts still have the factory-applied yellow paint on them. All part numbers are clearly visible. Again, extremely impressive. Here we have a great example of a very early 944, production #1044. This car is spec’d out extremely well. This 944 was optioned with a limited slip differential, sport shocks/stabilizers, and sports seats. With its light weight and sport suspension, this car is absolute blast to drive. This 944 is a two-owner car, with extensive maintenance documentation. All oil changes are stamped into the original warranty booklet, and i have receipts in-hand for loads of recent maintenance, including a fresh timing belt, water pump, distributor cap/rotor, drive belts, ac compressor, starter assembly, alternator, battery, and a flushing/bleeding of the coolant and brake systems. The car had a 65-point inspection in late 2015. Exterior:platinum metallic is a seriously handsome color and is accentuated by the brown interior. This car wears a respray of the original color (paint gauge reads 10-12 all around), which presents very well. Exterior blemishes to be aware of include a spot on the passenger door where the clear coat is peeling, a dry spot on the roof, a couple rock chips on the passenger rear fender, and small scuffs on the lower front lip below the fog lights. Paint shines very nicely; the respray was clearly done to a high standard. Cookie-cutter wheels are in excellent shape and look great on the car, with no curb rash. Interior:brown leather sport seats are excellent; they’re in great shape and are very comfortable and supportive. Porsche-script floor mats (front and back) are equally well-preserved. Original dash is cracked in the center, and there is a color-matched dash cover fitted. All powered systems are functional. Air conditioning blows cold, heat heats, wiper sprayers spray, sony 25wx4 stereo sounds nice and crisp, rear hatch struts hold, defrosters are functional, and the central alarm system works, controlled by the lock on the forward-most part of the driver’s rear fender. Underneath:this particular 944 is extremely well-preserved underneath. No rust in the slightest, it’s clearly been garaged all its life. Rubber boots are not torn, and there are no traces of old fluid strewn about the underbody. The car drives very, very well; i recently had an ‘83 944 with 7,000 miles on it, and this one feels very similar in how tight it is. No noises of concern, this is an excellent driver as it sits. With all the recent maintenance, this car has a ton of life left in it and is sure to make the next owner very happy. Tachometer✔ Power Windows✔ Air Conditioning
