This era thunderbird had a unique wrap-over "basket handle" roofline with opera windows and large rear side quarter windows separated from the rear window by thin c-pillars. Headlamps hidden with retractable covers and full-width dropped center taillamps made a comeback from the late 1960s.

1967 ford thunderbird - chicago, ilevolve motorschicago, il 60618ph: 7732672684web: www. Evolve-motors. Comoptions:description:1967 ford thunderbird coupe time capsule! Completely original one-owner survivor 63,442 miles vin: 7y81z160306 we got a call a few weeks back from a local woman who told us she had a dusty t-bird occupying her garage, where it had sat since she took possession in the early 1990s. The original owner of the car was a dear friend of hers, and had passed away and passed on her beloved t-bird. When we went over to her garage to inspect the car, we were taken aback by the car’s originality. The car was dusty and sitting on flat tires, but still had the dealer plastic on the seats and belt harnesses, and the vintage burgundy paint was unquestionably original. We put a jumper pack on the battery and put in some fresh gasoline, and with a puff of smoke the car came to life. Exterior: vintage burgundy, which is the actual color name from ‘67, shows well. Paint is entirely original; an elcometer shows readings of 2. 9 – 3. 3 on every body panel. No repairs, no touch-ups. The car looks sharp in burgundy over black, especially with all the chrome trim, which is very well-preserved. With the exception of some light oxidation on the underside of the rear bumper and a dime-sized ding up front, chrome is in good shape all around. While the car does look sharp, the exterior isn’t without fault. At some point in the car’s life, it rubbed up against what we figure to be a garage wall, and the passenger side shows some light scuffing. On the driver’s side lower front fender there's a small spot where paint has flaked off. Please see the photos, as all blemishes are documented with close-ups. The car’s chrome hubcaps show well. Interior: the interior is absolutely this car’s strong point. It’s true time-capsule quality. There are no tears, scuffs, fading, or much of any signs of wear at all really. The carpet is free of any discoloring or damage, the headliner is in good shape, and the door panels and center console are free of any wear-and-tear. The back seats don’t appear to have ever been sat in, as the dealer-fitted plastic is still fastened to the seatbelt buckles. The dealer-fitted plastic front seat covers are still with the car as well, and were on while the car sat in long-term storage. The breakaway steering wheel is a nice touch. Gauges are functional and show minimal patina. Lights are all functional, as is the radio. A/c components are all present, though it has not been converted to r134. Under the hood / underbody: when we got the car there was a coolant leak from the heater core. We’ve since bypassed the heater core, which took care of the leak, though at the expense of the heat. Underneath the car looks quite good. There’s some slight corrosion on the exhaust towards the rear, but structurally the car is in great shape. Floors and rockers are rock solid. Differential is bone-dry, there are no leaks. This car is fitted with a 6. 4l 390cid v8. The car idles quiet, steady, and cool, and drives nicely. It tracks straight, stops well, and doesn’t make any noises of concern. The car eats up speed bumps and potholes like they aren’t even there. Overall, this is an excellent “survivor” t-bird. This car has been awaken from hibernation and refreshed, and is now ready to pick up right where it left off in the early 1990s. Air Conditioning

1979 ford thunderbird - chicago, ilevolve motorschicago, il 60618ph: 7732672684web: www. Evolve-motors. Comoptions:description:see ebay or hemmings for full description. Word limit prohibits. 1979 ford thunderbird 11,766 mile survivor one owner completely original time capsule! Vin: 9g87h305878 9: 1979 model year g: chicago, il assembly plant 87: thunderbird 2-door hardtop h: 351cid 2v 5. 8l v8 windsor 305878: serial number paint: 9d – polar white (2684) trim: sd – dark red ultra-soft leather district sales office: 41 – chicago, il evolve motors and chicago car club are pleased to present this 1979 ford thunderbird! Exterior: polar white paint is original throughout, as confirmed with an elcometer. There are no spots of touch up paint anywhere on the car. There are only a couple very minor blemishes in the original paint, including a few small chips on the headlight covers (consistent with the 11k miles), and a light scuff on the rear bottom corner of the driver door. Please see the photos, as these blemishes are evidenced with close-ups. Polar white looks absolutely phenomenal in contrast with the red pinstripes and red leather interior. Paint shines bright and shows no clear coat fade or aging; it’s very clear that this car was garage-kept and babied since it was purchased new in chicago, where it has remained ever since. Chrome is excellent throughout; there is no oxidation or damage to any of the chrome – bumpers, rocker trim, and door trim are all in fantastic shape. All lights, including lower fogs, are clear and crack-free, as is all glass. There are no wiper streaks or nicks on the windshield. Wheels are in as-new condition with no curb rash, and still wear their original goodyear rubber. Tires, though obviously quite old, show no rot whatsoever and still retain 80+ percent tread. Overall, the condition of the exterior is extremely impressive. This is a true survivor car that has been unbelievably well-preserved. Interior: the interior presents much like the exterior, phenomenally well. Dark red ultra-soft leather truly does not show any signs of aging or wear, and neither does the dark red carpeting. There is no color fade whatsoever, and seats are free of any scuffs or tears. There are no dash cracks or warping in the plastic. All powered systems work without fault. Air conditioning (r134a) blows cold, heat and defrost blow hot, and all gauges are functional. Powered seats, locks, antenna, original radio, and windows are all functional and operate without any fuss. The car is equipped with cruise control, as well as an alarm system with a push-button kill switch mounted under the dash. Headliner is tight, and the rear seats don’t look to have ever been used. Under the hood: this ‘79 t-bird retains its original windsor 351cid 2v v8 and fmx automatic with just 11,766 miles. Under the hood, the car presents very nicely. All stickers and markings are still in place and clearly legible. The car felt fantastic. It starts right up, tracks straight, brakes straight and effectively, and shifts nice and smooth. There were no tendencies or noises of any concern. The car stayed cool while sitting in chicago traffic, and is extremely quiet from behind the wheel. I wouldn’t hesitate to drive the car anywhere in the country. Underbody: please take a look through the underbody photos, as it is documented in detail. The car looks excellent from underneath. Factory undercoating has held up very well. There is absolutely no rust, surface or through, and no damage. Overall, this ‘79 t-bird is just about as nice as they come. So many of these cars were street parked and driven into the ground, not this one. This one-owner, extremely low mile and original example is sure to make the next owner very, very happy regardless of if they purchase with the intention of daily-driving or retiring to their collection.
